Event Description
The Revel Revolution Ride is a brand-new event designed to create an inclusive and welcoming space for women and nonbinary cyclists to ride, have a ton of revelrous fun, and build community! Whether you're new to riding or a seasoned cyclist, this ride offers an opportunity to challenge yourself and enjoy the journey with a fun and inspiring crew.
Choose from two route options: a shorter ride for those looking to experience the joy of cycling in a supportive environment, or a longer, scenic loop around Lake Sammamish for riders eager to stretch their legs. Both offer stunning views of the Cascade mountains, lush greenery, and a sparkling Lake Sammamish. Along the way, you'll find encouragement, camaraderie, and plenty of fun on two wheels. Join us as we celebrate the power of community!
This ride supports Cascade's Women and Nonbinary Free Group Rides and classes. The goal in the future is to partner with gender-based organizations and raise revenue for causes that support women+ folks.
Registration Details
Registration opens Tuesday, April 8 and closes in mid-June or as soon as we reach our rider max (which happens surprisingly quickly – don’t wait too long!)
Packet Pick Up & Mailing
If you register by 11:59 PM June 9, your packet will be mailed to your primary address. If it does not arrive, please see us at the start line tent.
If you registered after June 9, your packet is available at the start line.
Routes
There are two routes. Both routes start north from Bellevue College through the Lake Hills and Crossroads neighborhoods before diverging on different routes down to Lake Sammamish. Each loop provides a combination of paved roads, bike lanes, and bike trails. There are some fun descents and a few upward inclines (particularly toward the end) along the route. You'll find the Revel Ride is mostly a leisurely cruise, but you’ll get your heart pumping. Here are the elevation gain and loss for both routes:
West Lake Sammamish – 14.5 miles through east Bellevue neighborhoods and down along the western lakeshore before a small hill back to the college.
- Nearly 1,000 ft. of cumulative elevation gain and loss (not quite in that order).
- One beautiful descent to the lake, and later a very scenic gradual wind back up.
- Plus an unusual turn around the mysterious Phantom Lake.
East Lake Sammamish – 27 miles across Marymoor and nearly the full length of the gorgeous completed East Lake Sammamish Trail to Issaquah before returning to Eastgate via the Mountains to Sound Greenway.
- Nearly 1,000 ft. of cumulative elevation gain and loss (not quite in that order).
- At least a third of the route on the beautiful new East Lake Sammamish Trail (this is about to be your new favorite day ride!)
- Another third on bike-friendly roads winding through Bellevue neighborhoods.
We encourage you to wait until the day before the event to download these maps to your preferred device for easy access on the day of the event.
You may select either route on the day of the event.

Inclusion
This is a women and nonbinary only event for participants. If you are interested in supporting as an ally, please sign up to volunteer! We welcome all allies and folks to support the event.
We are committed to celebrating and promoting diversity in the bicycling community. We aim to provide safe spaces at start lines, finish lines, and official rest stops. Read our commitment to anti-racism and our participant code of conduct and grievance policy.
Why a WNB ride? Bicycling has traditionally been a male-dominated sport. Our mission is to increase inclusion among folks who have been left out in the past. To fulfill our mission and welcome more people to biking, we offer education classes and rides specifically targeted to women and nonbinary people.
We would like to acknowledge that our rides take place on native land. Our offices are located on the traditional land of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People past and present.
Food & Breaks
Rest Stops: for the short route, at mile 10 there will be a rest stop with snacks, water, and plenty of encouragement for that last handful of miles. For the long route, there will be two rest stops, at each end of the lake – one at 9 miles and one at 20 miles. Both will have snacks and water and plenty of space to unkink and stretch out your legs again.
Support During the Ride
This ride is supported by Cascade staff and volunteers, local community group volunteers, and municipal and county services.
Support and gear (SAG) vehicles are present on the route and dispatched when you call the ride support hotline. SAG vehicles can transport you and most models of bikes in the event of a mechanical or minor medical event. You should always call 911 in a life-threatening emergency.
Outriders are volunteers in white, green, and black jerseys that ride on the route, assisting you with minor mechanical and minor medical issues, like cuts and scrapes, dispensing advice and directions, and helping you to Ride S.M.A.R.T.
Mechanics are posted at the start/finishe lines.
Weather
June-uary always gives us a run for our money with the weather! We hope for a dry and sunny June day, but make sure to check the weather as the day approaches. We’ll be just past the Summer solstice, but in the great Pacific Northwest rain and cooler temps are always possible.
E-Bikes
East Lake Sammamish Trail and King County allow Class 1 and 2 e-bikes on paved routes and trails, but don’t count on your battery being able to carry you all the way without some help from your legs. You’ll want to save some charge for that likely hill at the end…
Training
If you have enjoyed the Burke-Gilman and Sammamish River Trails, you’re all trained up for the lakeshore long legs. Work a few hills into your routine to be ready for those sneaky inclines coming back up from the south end of the lake to Eastgate. Both loops get to enjoy the woodsy, ascending stretch of the I-90 Trail.
Looking for further options to help you prepare for this ride? You can check out our extensive schedule of Free Group Rides and other ride events in the Puget Sound area. Find rides that fit your schedule and desired pace and distance. If you ace the short loops of Ride for Major Taylor or Flying Wheels, Revel Revolution will be a walk in the park. You can also filter for rides for women and nonbinary people under the “By Interest” category.
