In 1970 a small group of active cyclists gathered in a basement on Mercer Island. Little did these individuals know that they were going to change the future of bicycling in the Puget Sound region. 45 years later, the Cascade Bicycle Club is the largest bicycling organization of its kind in the U.S.

Seventy-one percent of bicycle commuters in Washington state are male, 65 percent of our membership is male, and only one-in-four STP riders is female. We’d like to change that.

Good things are happening in South Park–improvements to the West Duwamish Trail!
People walking or biking through the industrial neighborhood in South Park will appreciate a new separated, paved space and smoother connections to waterway parks, town center and the Green River and Interurban Trails.

Ask anyone on a bicycle what could improve his or her biking experience and the word “connection” is bound to come up. A better connection from bike lane to trail to rural road, comfortable connections from one neighborhood to another, lack of connection across a bridge or railroad track—you name it, it’s all about connecting.
