Join us for a history ride from Volunteer Park on a 5.1 mile route around parts of Seattle at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace!
We will meet at the Black Sun sculpture across the street from the Seattle Asian Art Museum at Volunteer Park (1247 15th Ave E Seattle, WA 98112). Parking can be found in the adjacent parking lot. Transit access includes biking from the Link light rail station at Capitol Hill (1 mile away) or biking from King County Metro Bus routes 10 and 49 each with stops a few blocks away.
Please be ready to ride at 1:00 PM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
There are a total of 10 stops on this ride during which the ride leader will tell a story about Seattle's LGBTQ+ history for a couple of minutes. There are restrooms near the start in Volunteer Park next to the Conservatory.
The route is mostly on paved roads and sidewalks.
Please note: due to all of the starts/stops, this ride is expected to last around 3.5 hours (estimated finish by 4:30 pm) and will end at the University Street light rail station. Riders can take the light rail back to Capitol Hill and bike to Volunteer Park from there.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
