Let's Go - Local
We’re shaping road ready kids with our physical education curriculum offering resources on bicycle and pedestrian safety.
Since 2016, the Let’s Go program has taught children safe biking skills through physical education classes in greater Seattle-area schools. The program was expanded and the curriculum was redesigned to be more inclusive of walking as part of active transportation that same year. Today, the Let's Go curriculum is the result of the collaboration between bicycle and pedestrian safety educators, transportation professionals, neighborhood safe street advocates, curriculum specialists, teachers, adapted physical education specialists, and school administrators.
Let's Go - Edmonds
The Edmonds Let’s Go Program operates in all elementary and middle schools within the city, serving students in grades three through eighth. The program provides Edmonds School District physical education teachers with a 5-lesson, elementary, in-class bike and pedestrian safety curriculum and an 8-lesson, middle school, in-class bike and pedestrian safety curriculum. Cascade maintains and delivers all bike fleets, helmets, and curriculum materials. Additionally, Cascade provides in-class support and teacher training.
Funding for the program is made possible through the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. In order to serve and meet the needs of all students, Cascade works with with Outdoors for All to serve students with disabilities in Edmonds . The Edmonds Let’s Go program operates in 21 elementary schools and 4 middle schools, serving nearly 9,000 students a year.
Let's Go - Seattle
The Seattle Let’s Go Program operates in all Seattle public elementary and middle schools, serving all 95 public elementary and middle schools in the city. The program provides Seattle School District physical education teachers with a 5-lesson, in-class bike and pedestrian safety curriculum. Cascade maintains and delivers all bike fleets, helmets, and curriculum materials. Additionally, Cascade provides in-class support and teacher training.
Funding for the program is made possible through the Seattle Department of Transportation and through a partnership with Seattle Public Schools. In order to serve and meet the needs of all students, Cascade Bicycle Club and the Seattle School District partner with Outdoors for All, a local nonprofit that specializes in delivering adaptive and therapeutic recreation for children with disabilities. The Seattle Let’s Go program operates in 73 elementary schools and 22 middle schools, serving over 12,000 third through fifth graders a year and thousands more middle schoolers.
Let's Go - Highline
The Let’s Go Program has expanded to Highline public schools in 2024. Previously, the program operated in Highline from 2016-2019 until COVID-19 restricted programming. Funding is made possible through the statewide expansion of Let’s Go but will be served by the local Cascade team. Similar to the Seattle and Edmonds programs, Cascade will maintain and deliver all bike fleets, helmets, and curriculum materials. Additionally, Cascade will provide in-class support and teacher training.
