May is Bike Everywhere Month and we’ve filled the calendar with opportunities for you to come ride with us–and celebrate the joy of bicycling. 

Registration for our annual Seattle Bike n Brews closes at midnight tonight (Thursday, May 4) so register now and check out the other great bike events planned throughout the month. 

Free Priority Bicycles Demo, May 6

Shopping for a new bike? Test ride some commuter, electric, cargo, and adventure bikes from Priority Bicycles at the Cascade Bicycle Club offices in Magnuson Park (map and directions) on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. The event is free!

Priority specializes in low-maintenance belt drive bikes and e-bikes with advanced drivetrains that are perfect for foul Northwestern weather. Instead of chains and derailleurs, Priority Bicycles have grease-free Gates Carbon Drive belts paired with Pinion gearboxes, and Shimano Alfine or Enviolo internal hubs. No more greasy hands or rusty chains!

Priority will have the following bikes available: the Current e-bike, the 600 with a Pinion gearbox, the 600X designed in collaboration with adventurer Ryan Van Duzer, the Continuum with an Enviolo hub, the Apollo gravel bike with a Shimano Alfine 11-speed shifter, and the Sauce retro trail crusher.

Bonus: Thanks to a partnership with cargo bike specialist Xtracycle, Priority will also have an electric Swoop e-cargo bike kitted out for carrying children or your heavy stuff.

Adventure Biking Presentation with Ryan Van Duzer, May 6

Adventure bicyclist Ryan Van Duzer has the ultimate dream job. He travels the country and the world exploring by bicycle, meeting people, and sharing his adventures on Youtube. Some of his videos have more than a million views. Check out his latest video of bicycling Rwanda’s Congo Nile Trail.

On Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Van Duzer will give a presentation about his new book, “The Long Way Home,” and answer questions about his bikepacking travels. Snacks and beverages will be provided, and Priority will be giving away T-shirts and other swag.

Seattle Bike N Brews, May 7

Three microbreweries and 38 miles of riding along the Duwamish and Green River Trails are the highlights of this fun, social ride. 

Registration closes at midnight so sign up now. Your registration includes three drink tickets for Half Lion Brewing, Georgetown Brewing, and Two Beers Brewing. This event is a fundraiser for Cascade’s programming including the Major Taylor Project and Pedaling Relief Project.

Bike to the Sounders Game, May 7

Heading to the Seattle Sounders game versus Kansas City after Bike n Brews? Take advantage of the free bike parking that Cascade is offering at the northwest corner of Lumen Field.

Our partnership with the Sounders is a great opportunity to ditch the car and ride your bike to multiple home games this season. You can find our free and secure bike valet service at the northwest corner of Lumen Field.

In addition to the May 7 game, Cascade is offering free bike valet service for Sounders games on May 17, May 27, May 31, June 3, June 24, July 1, Aug. 20, and Sept. 2. Learn more here. 

Spin into Bike Month, May 11

Pedal to Sam Smith Park near the entrance to the I-90 bike and pedestrian tunnel to get donuts, coffee, and free prizes from Commute Seattle, Cascade, Lime, and the Seattle Department of Transportation. You can also test ride an adaptive bike from Outdoors for All, and learn about upcoming bike infrastructure and light rail upgrades.

Riding Han Film Screening, May 13

Riding Han is a film that captures the journey of three Korean-Americans who explore their identities while riding from Canada to Mexico through the Korean cultural concept of Han. 

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Cascade Bicycle Club offices in Magnuson Park (map and directions).

Go Nuts for Donuts on Bike Everywhere Day, May 19

Bike to Cascade’s Celebration Station in Fremont on May 19 to enjoy free coffee and donuts, plus swag items and giveaways from Ortlieb. We will be located on the north side of the Fremont Bridge at the Google Seattle Plaza (map and directions).

The Fremont station is among the dozens and dozens of similar Bike Everywhere Day stations and stops throughout Seattle and the Puget Sound offering snacks and other bike-related swag and information. See our map here to find a Celebration Station along your bike route or in your neighborhood.
