Overview
We end our CTS series with the classic Full Lake Loop (50 miles, 1900 ft of elevation gain), followed by a celebration with all pace groups at Cascade Bicycle Club Headquarters.
We start at Cascade Headquarters, at Magnuson Park, where there are restrooms and water. To save time at the start, bring two full water bottles with you.
Route description
We will ride around Lake Washington in a counter-clockwise direction, following the Burke-Gilman Trail, Lake Washington Boulevard, and Rainier Avenue South to Renton. We'll take city streets through Renton, head north on the Eastrail, take city streets through Bellevue and Kirkland, and finish on the Burke-Gilman Trail back to Magnuson Park.
Rest stops and post-ride fun
Since we will have pizza and refreshments waiting for us at the end, we do not have a planned lunch stop. We will keep our stops short, to practice efficient use of time for fueling, hydration, and restrooms.
Here's the list of stops:
- Mile 13.7: Seward Park
- Mile 22.1: Gene Coulon Park (optional)
- Mile 31.3: Hidden Valley Boys' and Girls' Club
- Mile 44.3: Log Boom Park (optional)
Important details
This ride may be one of our hottest, sunniest ones yet. Hydration and sun care will be crucial to your performance and endurance. Have sunscreen with you to reapply at stops. Plan out your hydration and fueling needs for the ride, and pack a little more than you think you might need. We won't be stopping at a store, so bring enough food to sustain you for 50 miles.
As always, print a cue sheet and have everything you need with you to fix a flat or other mechanical issue or to navigate on your own if you need to leave the group for any reason. Plan to arrive at least 20 minutes early so that you can get yourself ready. The SMART briefing and ride announcements will start at 7:30 a.m., and we will roll out when that is done. Riders must attend the briefing to participate in the ride.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We look forward to riding with you and celebrating your accomplishments!
