Come explore West Seattle's music scene -- past, present and future!  We will stop at homes, a studio and favorite venues of famous performers. Peder Nelson, musician and West Seattle music historian, will tell some stories and the introduce a couple of guests. This Cycle History ride is an annual project of Southwest Seattle Historical Society and West Seattle Bike Connections.

5.4 miles at Leisurely pace (10-12 mph).

Let's meet at the drive between the north side of West Seattle High School and Hiawatha Community Center. Access from Walnut Ave SW. Please be ready to ride at 10:00 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will be riding on city streets in a variety of conditions including traffic. The route is mostly flat, but has some short steep hills to climb and busy streets to cross. At a couple of locations we will use sidewalks. Our goal will be to stay together with no one left behind.

Restrooms may be available at the start at Hiawatha Community Center, but not guaranteed to be open.  Restrooms available at the Junction and the Farmer's Market will be open.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.

We hope you can join us!

We have a large group!  Please arrive by 9:45 so we can get settled and be ready at 10. Check your tires and brakes and don't forget your helmet. Peder is ready with stories and music, and we'll meet a special guest at Easy Street Records. Looking forward to meeting you.

Weather forecast is good. 60 to 65 degrees, partly cloudy, breeze from the north at 10-15 mph, healthy air quality.
