PIE RIDE: We will ride north on the Burke-Gilman Trail to the North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) in Bothell, www.northshoreseniorcenter.org, just beyond Blyth Park near Bothell. We then take a pie, brownie or cookie break at NSSC. A variety of homemade pies with ice cream, whip cream and coffee are usually available for riders to purchase at a reasonable price. Please note: purchases may be with cash, charge or debit cards (plastic purchases are a minimum of $1.00). We will be there for about 30 to 60 minutes, use the restrooms if needed and then return to Matthews Beach.
Entrance to NSSC COVID Guidelines: [Northshore Senior Center(NSSC)]: Entry to the NSSC per their website is contingent upon the following: "Vaccinations or proof of negative COVID test results are no longer required for all guests and visitors effective 4/1/22 (per a 2/28/22 announcement posting). Masks, symptom-checking and social distancing are still required for everyone." Be prepared to follow the NSSC guidelines for entrance or remain out on the patio. Route: Come, have fun, converse and enjoy this social bike ride along the Burke Gilman Trail. The terrain is flat.
Cue sheets: No cue sheets provided. Stay together ride.
Fenders: If the riding surfaces are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry or be the caboose.
Ride start: We meet at the Matthews Beach parking lot. Please be ready to ride at 12:00. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group. Note: Water and restrooms are available at the start. Be prepared if you have a mechanical problem e.g. flat tire.
Register: Please sign an e-waiver by clicking on the “Register Now” button at the top of this page (right below the ride title) and enter your information.
Parking: Free parking at Matthews Beach parking lot. Arrive early to beat the seagulls for a good spot.
Weather cancellation: - Showers or more severe weather(ice or snow) will cancel the ride. Ride cancellation will be announced in the comments section at least two hours before start time and the ride leader(s) will not be at the start.
