FRUMPS: Move Up to Moderate - North Lake Loop
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
If you've been on steady pace rides and would like to try moderate, this is the ride for you! We will keep the flat road/no wind pace to 14-15mph and will be kind to anyone who needs us to slow a bit occasionally.
Join us for this ride from Blyth Park in Bothell on a 32.8 mile North Lake Washington Loop with a coffee stop at Starbucks in University Village. The planned route per the link below includes a long mostly gentle climb on Sand Point Way and then into Shoreline and a fun descent back to the Burke-Gilman Trail on Perkins Lane. However, the leaders will poll the group at the coffee stop and decide if we should reduce the climbing and mileage by taking the trail all the way back from U Village.
Let's meet at Blyth Park near the restrooms and please be ready to ride at the start time posted above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and will regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We will have an optional restrooms/water stop at mile 6. The coffee stop is at mile 16.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. Mud guards (buddy flaps) on your fenders, especially if they reach to 2-4 inches above the pavement, are a great benefit to the rider behind you!
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
