Gig Harbor's Lighted Boat Parade is a treasured tradition - decorated boats circle our harbor, spreading holiday cheer! Let's ride around the harbor and take in the display of color reflecting on the water. We'll stop for a bit at the boat launch (mile 5-ish) and at Skansie Brother's Park (mile7-ish) to watch the parade. Light up your bike - your helmet - yourself!
We'll try to stay together, but will likely get a bit spread out on the descent into the harbor and the climb out of it. This is a social, no drop ride - we will re-group as soon as we can if we become separated.
Please note: During COVID-19 Phases 1.5 and 2, all Free Group Rides are limited to six total participants: the Ride Leader and five others. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please unregister for this ride so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
Helmets are required! White front headlight and red rear tail light are also required for this ride. Other lights are encouraged, but are optional - please make sure that any decorations added to your set-up do not hinder your safe operation of your bike. Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. Other items to bring: ID, a charged cell phone, water, cash/credit card, a small snack. (also, as mentioned above, kleenex, wipes, hand sanitizer, a face covering)
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
