Saturday Morning Social ride with the Three Amigos
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Machias to Lake Roesiger and Back
Join us for a ride from 9:00 am on a 22.2 mile route at 14-16!
A little shorter ride for the Amigos this week because we have a few hills.
This is a Three Amigos ride from Machias to Lake Roesiger and back . It has some elevation gain to it ( 1211 ft ) but it is a social ride and we regroup often. A few challenging hills, but we regroup and wait for “everyone”. We do keep the pace of 14-16 on the flats. This ride has a long hill and there will be gaps, but the fast riders will have a nice break waiting for the sweeper, Amigo #2, who is the last one up the climbs. The "Three Amigos" refers to three friends who have been riding together for years, two of us became ride leaders to spread the physical and social aspect of bike riding with our Cascade Clubs friends. Our third Amigo was a ride leader for 8 years with the Snohomish Bicycle shop. The Three Amigos rides will have a similar feel to it. We stay together and encourage each other at all times.
Let's meet at the Machias Centennial trail stop. We will have out ride and safety briefing at 8:50 with a departure at 9:00. There is a public restroom at the start of the ride.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together. Nobody gets dropped. We do everything we can to help with mechanical issues. There are some circumstances that arise where somebody may need to find their own way home, like breaking a chain, so make sure to have a cue sheet or phone for help. It is a social ride. If you have been riding at a steady pace and are ready to try a moderate ride, this is the ride for you. We stay together. The challenge is on the hills and that is why this ride is a great ride for you. You will not be dropped. Your efforts will be rewarded as you are cheered on by the "Peloton". This is a great ride for couples who are at different paces, the aggressive riders can hit some hills to get your heart rate up and circle back for the rider who is stretching to get to the next level. Our pace on the flats is 16 mph and our speed varies on the hills. We have all been through the process of trying to get to another level. We applaud those who are making the effort, we will wait.
Restrooms are available at the start.
You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. There is no need to un-register if you decide not to ride.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Expectations (important, please read!): Be ready to ride 10 minutes before the start of the ride to participate in the safety briefing. S.M.A.R.T. riding is the standard and all riders are held accountable for doing their best to adhere to these; we want to be awesome representatives of the bike community in Snohomish County and be safe! Front and rear lights are highly recommended! Riders should be able to maintain the chosen pace. All riders are responsible to promote a great experience by having a positive attitude, having fenders when the roads are wet or rain is in the forecast, enjoying the beauty we are surrounded by and just by having fun! Steady rain or other unsafe conditions cancels the ride. If the ride is canceled by 7:00 am, it will be posted in the comment section. In that case, the ride leaders will not be at the start.
