Ride Description:

EAstside Ride The Hill DREAM rides are focused on helping strong riders get stronger by training on challenging hills. You can ride the hills at your own pace; we will regroup at the top. EARTHDREAM rides emphasize teamwork and cooperative riding in a way that is fun and encourages each rider to develop their cycling skills.  Our pace tends to be consistent especially on hills where the climbs are fast and strong.  Riders who struggle to maintain a vigorous pace may find it challenging to stay with the group.  We will attempt to accommodate people with a range of abilities, but riders who are significantly off the group pace should come prepared to finish the ride on their own if necessary.

If you are looking to get back into shape for the Spring, the EARTHDREAM Spring Training Series is just the thing for you!  We will gradually be increasing our distance and elevation with a goal of being able to ride a hilly century by Memorial Day - just in time for the Seven Hills of Kirkland.

This week's ride sticks around the Eastside and the south end of Lake Washington. As I am planning this ride the weather forecast isn't very good and this route will give us the opportunity to head back early if need be.  It also has plenty of hills, including a climb up Montreaux.  We'll have two food & water stops - one at a Starbucks in Redmond and one a  Starbucks in May Creek.

The starting location is at South Kirkland Park & Ride.  There is free parking but no water or restrooms at the start so please plan accordingly.

If you click the "Register Now" button on this page it saves you from having to sign in at the start of the ride.  Also, it gives me an idea of how many people to expect. Please register at least two hours before the start of the ride.

Please plan on arriving at least 15 minutes before the start of the ride so you can get signed in, hear the pre-ride briefing, and be ready for an on-time start.  All riders must be present for the briefing in order to participate.

Ice, snow and steady rain cancels this ride.  If the ride is canceled due to weather, a notice will be posted in the comments 2 hours prior and the ride leader will not be at the start.  Be sure to check back on this web site for weather updates if the weather is in doubt. Please bring long fenders if the roads are wet or rain is in the forecast.

Comments

The weather forecast looks terrible.  I'll be at the start, but please bring long fenders and rain gear if you want to join me.  I am not sure if we will do the entire route or not - we'll see how that goes - but we have lots of opportunities to turn back early if we so choose.
