Join us for this MODERATE pace version of our weekly loop around Lake Washington. This week it's CCW (counterclockwise) New Year's Eve edition, with a tour through Beaux Arts Village, Enatai & Bellevue. We'll be following the same route as Dave and Judy's BRISK group.
There is a four hour parking restriction at Log Boom Park, so if you are concerned it might be enforced, park nearby on NE 175th.
A food stop on this ride will be OPTIONAL depending on the wishes of the group, so be sure to BRING SNACKS in case we don't do a food stop.
The pace is 14-16 MPH, no wind; slower uphill, faster down and we will observe the speed limit on the multi-use trails.
The goal is to stay together, but please bring navigation aids in case you need to finish on your own. The ride becomes self-led for those ahead of or behind the group. The route/cue sheet is at the link below. It will not be handed out at the start, so please download or print it if you want it during the ride. Feel free to bring my cell phone number so you can text me (I don't answer calls while riding) in case you have a problem while off the back.
Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats; we'll pause briefly for flat repair and minor mechanicals, but have a phone and a plan to get home/back to the start if needed.
We'll pause at three excellent rest stops: Seward Park (19 miles), Coulon Park (27 miles) & Marina Park (appx 44 miles).
If there's a chance of precipitation, fenders with long mud flaps are recommended. Anywhere the road is wet, if you don't have stable flaps extending to within a few inches of the ground, you'll need to take the initiative to stay behind everyone with better fenders.
Please register in advance by clicking the red Register Now button at the top of this page, as this saves time at the start and enables the leader to email you in case of changes. (You need a Cascade Bicycle Club account, and starting one makes you a Basic-level member of the Club at no charge. Or you can register manually at the start.) You don't have to un-register if you can't make the ride..
Plan to arrive 15 minutes early for briefing and ride prep so that we can leave on time.
Forecast for rain, snow, ice/frost or other unsafe riding conditions will be cause for cancellation, in which case the ride leaders will not be at the start and the cancellation will be posted (in Comments, below) at least 2 hours before the start.
