Ride from Centennial Park in Snoqualmie, through the town of North Bend, climb up to Rattlesnake Lake. Then ride out to the end of the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River Road and back to Centennial Park. It is one of the most scenic rides in the area.
There is a challenging climb of about one mile with an average grade of 8 percent, with a small segment with a 14 degree grade on the ride to Rattlesnake Lake. Ride the hills at your own pace and we will regroup at the top. We stop at Rattlesnake Lake for a restroom break and then ride on more level pavement through North Bend up the MIddle Fork road. The pavement changes to smooth asphalt and has an average grade of about 1%. The Middle Fork Road runs along the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River and our destination is the Middle Fork Trailhead parking lot. At the trailhead we will take a break, a pit toilet is available but no water, and there is displayed a large map of the trails leading from the area. Nearby is a scenic foot bridge across the river.
Route map and cue sheet and route gradient are found at the link below. Note version has been re-edited. If you want a cue sheet, please print and bring it along. Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats, and a plan for rescue should you have a serious mechanical failure. Cell service unlikely during parts of the route.
Bring snacks and two full large water bottles for yourself because we don't plan on stopping at a convenience store for supplies. Restrooms and water are available at the start at Centennial Park, a pit toilet is available and at the end of the Middle Fork Road, but no water. Meet next to the Centennial Park restrooms, I will be wearing a silver helmet and riding a black bike.
Please RSVP by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page, and select the wavier, and that will expedite the sign in process preceeding the ride. Arrive early so that we can go over the Cascade Bicycle Club's safety announcement, and introductions. Have yourself and bike prepared to ride at 930am.
