If you are looking for a relaxed recovery ride or finally want to get out on your bike before summer ends, then this social ride might be for you. We are riding from Woodinville (Wilmot Gateway Park) to Redmond Town Center for coffee (and pastries if you choose!) mostly on paved trails. The Ride Leader is re-entering the riding world and will be leading at the low end of the Steady Pace (12-14) for this Social Ride. This nearly flat route uses a combination of the Sammamish River Trail, the Redmond Connector Trail, the Bear Creek Trail, and the Puget Power Trail such that the vast majority of the riding route is not on roads. Since we will be on multi-use trails, we will also want to be good ambassadors for cycling and considerate of other trail users. Please bring funds appropriate for your needs for coffee and pastries.
We will meet at the Pergolas in Wilmot Gateway Park where I will be stationed at one of the tables under cover (and I will not be in the Athletic Fields parking lot). Parking is suggested to be by the athletic fields across the street from the Park. Note: Youth sporting events may be starting now so please allow extra time for parking! Restrooms and water are available at the starting area.
Riders should be able to sustain the pace, carry nutrition/water, and have the know-how and equipment to fix a flat tire. Everyone should carry a phone to call for assistance if needed. We will regroup after climbs and at major intersections. New riders are welcome - please see the Cascade Bicycle Club webpage for new riders as noted below
Please print a cue sheet if you would like one or download the route from the route link provided below. Please arrive early and be ready to ride by 9:20 am so we can do the SMART safety briefing and depart promptly at 9:30 am.
In the event of showers or worse the ride leader will not be at the start but will post a cancellation notice in the comments section of this posting by 07:30 on ride day. Please check the comments section before driving to the ride start. Showers during the ride could amend the route.
If you have a Cascade account you may register online up until 07:30 am on the day of the ride by selecting the register button at the top of this posting. If your plans change, you do not need to unregister. You are also welcome to sign in at the start where I will have a waiver sheet.
Mentoring is available. Please contact me if you are interested and do know the route.
