This will be a social somewhat hilly route from Redmond, following the 520 bike trail to Medina, meandering thru quiet neighborhoods in west Bellevue and Beaux Arts before picking up the Mountains to Sound bike trail to Mercer Island and a delicious lunch stop at Homegrown Sandwiches (kudos to Al Fiedler for this discovery). We will then head east to Factoria, climb up to Bellevue College and then wind our way back through residential areas of Lake Hills. We will re-group at the top of major hills. The start location has a sanican but no water. Bring 2 full water bottles. Bring pocket food and money for lunch. (Lunch is at mile 19.5)
East Lake Sammamish Trail parking is just west of the Whole Foods shopping complex in Redmond near the east entrance for Marymoor Park. Address for the start location is a business just across the street from the parking lot entrance. Parking is free in the trail users lot. Do not park in the shopping center lot.
Please print a cue sheet if you would like one or download the route from the link provided. Please arrive early and be ready to ride by 9:50 so we can do the safety briefing and depart promptly at 10am.
In the event of showers or worse the ride leader will not be at the start but will post a cancellation notice in the comments section of this posting by 08:00 on ride day. Please check the comments section before driving to the ride start. Showers during the ride could amend the route. Freezing temps, frosty roads or ice will also cancel this ride.
If you have a Cascade account you may register online up until 8:00am on the day of the ride by selecting the register button at the top of this posting. If your plans change you do not need to unregister. You are also welcome to sign in at the start.
