Join me for a favorite route of mine, a counter-clockwise route from Mukilteo to Deception Pass and down Whidbey Island, capped off with a ferry ride! This route is as challenging as it is scenic! There are significant climbs from start to finish. Even the flat Skagit Valley typically presents a good headwind. There's no better way to spend a warm summer day in the great PNW! There are planned rest stops at Stanwood QFC (mp 34), La Conner (mp 52), Deception Pass (mp 69), Haggens grocery in Oak Harbor (mp 80), and Payless Foods in Freeland (mp 112).

I'm posting this as a vigorous pace. Full disclosure, I'm not a super fast climber, but expect the average speed to finish around 16.5-17.0 mph. Riders should have successfully completed at least one hilly century ride recently. There are few bail-out options. If you don't know your pace and/or haven't been riding a long distance, this is NOT the ride that you want to try out your limit. Please be prepared with nutrition and hydration. Carry two water bottles.

Please be ready to ride by 7:50AM, so we can discuss riding S.M.A.R.T. and the route. We will roll at 8:00AM sharp.

There is a porta-potty at the start. There are many points on the route for bathrooms, food, and water.

All riders need to carry the tools and have the ability to repair a flat tire, as well as have a back-up plan, if needed. *There is a bus running Whidbey Island.

Please register for the ride by using the red "register now" button. This will save time at the ride start, and is most appreciated!

In the event of weather cancellation, I will post it here, at least 2 hours prior to ride start, and will not be at the start.

The Link will provide you with the RWGPS route and cue sheet. If you would like a cue sheet, please print your own from this link.
