Let's join the fun at Downtown on the Go's "Bike to Work Day" celebration at People's Park in Tacoma. We'll met at Gig Harbor Park and Ride on Kimball, ride over the bridge, through north Tacoma and to the park for muffins from the famous Red Elm Cafe, Manifesto Coffee, and lots of bike comraderie. After the party, I'll be headed back to the start via Scott Pierson Trail. If you work in Tacoma, send me a message and I'll see if we can modify the route to get you to work. We'll be rolling through the Narrows Park and Ride on 6th Avenue in Tacoma a little after 8 am, so let me know if you would like to skip the first 6 miles of the ride and meet us there. There's a link to the "Ride with GPS" route below and you can print a cue sheet if you would like one. We'll be aiming for a steady pace, defined as 12-14 miles per hour on flat ground with no wind. There are a few hills, including the bridge - we'll regroup after them.
New riders are especially welcome! If you are new to Cascade Free Group rides, please click on "read or newcoming information" at the top.
Please meet me in the parking lot near the trail at around 7:15 am for a short safety talk and introductions. Register for the ride by clicking the red "register now" button. You do not need to be a member of Cascade to register on-line, you merely need to create a free account. Doing this beforehand will save us time at the start and then I will also have your information clearly written on my paperwork.
Helmets are required for all participants on Cascade Free Group rides. Some other good things to have: a charged cell phone, a credit card and some cash, ID, water and snacks, supplies to fix a flat (spare tube, pump, tire levers) fenders on your bike if roads are wet, front and back lights.
Cancellation Policy: Steady rain cancels. If the ride is cancelled, the cancellation will be posted in the comments section below before 5:15am and ride leader will not be at the start.
