Finally it's May and Bike to a Business Gig Harbor has launched! For a full year, a dozen fabulous local businesses are offering special deals for guests who arrive by bike. We will visit them all, starting and ending at The Hub at the Tacoma Narrows Airport. We're going to aim for a steady pace, defined as 12-14 miles per hour on flat roads with no wind. There are some hills and we will regroup after them. There will be an optional social time at The Hub at the end of the ride. I am planning for the stops at the other businesses to be brief - a quick hello to the kind staff and owners and a chance for riders to know where the businesses are and what they have to offer. Hopefully, during this preview, riders will discover several businesses that they would like to return to for further exploration.
Join the Facebook group linked below to be entered into monthly drawings for prizes from the participating businesses. The route, linked below, shows all the businesses and if you click for more information you can see the special bike rider offer.
New riders are especially welcome! If you are new to Cascade Free Group rides, please see the "Read our newcomer information" linked above.
We'll meet in the parking lot at around 9 am for a short safety talk and introductions. Please register for the ride by clicking the red "Register Now" button at the top. You do not need to be a member of Cascade to register on-line, you merely need to create a free account. Doing this beforehand will save us time at the start and then I will also have your information clearly written on my paperwork.
Helmets are required for all participants on Cascade Free Group rides. Some other good things to have: a charged cell phone, a credit card and some cash, ID, water and snacks, supplies to fix a flat (spare tube, pump, tire levers) fenders on your bike if roads are wet, front and back lights. If you have a lock on for your bike, please bring it in case we all want to go in for a longer visit at one of the businesses - not a big deal if you do not have a lock as we can either lock bikes together or designate a rider or two to hang outside and watch bikes.
Cancellation Policy: Steady rain cancels. If the ride is cancelled, the cancellation will be posted in the comments section below before 7:30am and ride leader will not be at the start. I hope not to cancel, but if I do, I will reschedule this ride for another time.
Feel free to post any questions you may have in the Comments below or contact me.
