A Sunday morning ride from Sumner to the Black Diamond Bakery. We will start in the town of Sumner from the Fred Meyer parking lot and ride north passing through the towns of Algona and Auburn on our way to Black Diamond. As we leave Auburn we approach our climb. A nice 4 mile ascent from the valley floor to the Black Diamond plateau. At the top of our climb the remainder of the route will be rollers all the way to the bakery. Warning, the Black Diamond Bakery's applefritters are delicious and hard to turn down, at least for some of us! After enjoying a nice rest stop we will head back. We have a sweet one mile 9% descent down 218th to the Green Valley Road below. At the bottom of 218th it's a flat beautiful country road all the way back to Auburn.
Fenders with buddy flap strongly encouraged if roads are wet or rain is in the forecast.
Restroom inside the Fred Meyer store at the start and at our rest stop at the Black Diamond Bakery at around mile 24.
New riders are welcome, but please review link below. Riders should be able to maintain the pace and know how to change a flat tire (and carry the equipment to do so).
Come prepared to fix flats and have a plan for dealing with mechanical issues. Generally the group will not wait for flats/mechanical issues so make sure you know the route or have printed a CUE sheet.
Please register for the ride by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page, click the waiver release box, complete the Emergency Contact Number, and click on Save. By doing this you will save time at the ride start. If you are unable to attend you do not need to "un-register."
