New sections added to the foothills trail. Come on out to enjoy a 34 mile ‘out and back’ from Puyallup on the Foothills Trail which sits atop a historic railroad bed and snakes through the river valley southeast of Tacoma. One of the most scenic sections for the unobstructed views of nearby Mt. Rainier begins in Orting and follows the Carbon River upstream through farmland and forest. There is some gentle climbing out of Orting and then on to some newly added sections including a neat wooden bridge that is sure to please.

The speed limit on the Foothills Trail is 10mph, we will slow to 10 mph for all pedestrians

Fenders with buddy flap required if rain is in the forecast.

Must be able to maintain 15 mph on the flat road, we regroup on the top of hills.

Restroom at start, mile 15 and Legendary Doughnuts mile 26.9

Please plan on a coffee stop at Legendary Doughnuts in Orting at mile 26.9

New Riders: Welcome - review link below. Riders should be able to maintain the pace and know how to change a flat tire (and carry the equipment to do so).

Cue sheet: Print a cue sheet from the Ride With GPS Route link below.

Regroup:  We will regroup at the top of hills. Mechanicals will not stop the group. Have an alternate plan if you cannot finish the ride.

Cancellation Policy: In the event of a weather cancellation, it will be posted 2 hours prior to the start in the comments section on Cascade and the Ride Leader will not be at the start.

Comments

I may need to revise the route for today's ride. I have concerns of frost on the trail. We will still ride, I will make a decision on heading South or North at the ride start.    Here is the revised route if needed. Stopping for coffee at Green River Cyclery at mile 14. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26460849

I will go on the ride but only if we can do the foot hills trail and pine pile bridge route. Is it just me or do you not really care for that name either busted bike cafe it sounds like a downer name it sound be called happy bike cafe because no one wants a busted bike. Please can i get the small bag and tire tube today.

Gary, I have the bag in the truck for you.  I'm concerned about frost and ice on the Foothills trail.  The trees shade the trail, and then the issue of leaves.  I'm not so sure the trail will be safe to ride a bike on.  I will see you soon. The Busted Bike is a happy place, and we will make it happier!

Patty, thats nice of you to give me a free bag. If possible i would still like to ride the foot hills trail route i just hope the foot hills trail route isn't frostey and icey. If you are going to the Busted Bike i will go home i hope you understand and im not trying to be rude its just i want to ride the original route today. See you soon =)
