FRUMPS: Mt Vernon/La Conner/Bayview

This is more than a Skagit Valley ride. On leaving Mt Vernon we will be doing some climbing over rolling hills and past lakes and wetlands. There are no killer hills and we will take our time and regroup at the tops of hills. The last bit of climbing takes us above Conway and a good downhill run to the flats and pretty much the last of the hills. The rest of the ride will be on flat terrain through the Skagit Valley farmland and past nicely kept fields and farmhouses. If the weather is clear we will be able to see mountains to the north, east and west. We’ll stop in La Conner for lunch and swing by Bayview on the way back to Mt Vernon.

I will be riding at a true Steady pace meaning no more that 14 mph on the flats. I plan to keep us all together, including regrouping at the tops of hills. Because of the varied riding conditions, I strongly recommend that participants have some experience riding with groups. If you are new to group riding, please review the Cascade newcomer info. Have extra tubes plus the skills to change your own flat and tackle minor mechanical problems.

There are bathroom facilities at the beginning of the ride which should hold us until our lunch stop in Laconnor.

The driving directions will take you Lions Park in Mt Vernon.  

Please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start to prepare your bike, listen to the ride briefing and SMART talk.  I will roll promptly at 9:30 AM.

In the event of a weather cancellation, I will post a notice in the comments section of this page at least two hours before the ride. I will not be at the ride start location.

Cue sheets will not be provided, please print one if desired.
