We'll be starting at War Memorial Park / Tacoma Narrows Park and Ride, heading to University Place and Chambers Bay golf course, continuing south along the water to Steilacoom and then making our way back to the start. This is a 19 mile loop with about 1000 feet of elevation. Click on the "Tacoma-Steilacoom route" link below for the Ride With GPS map of this loop. War Memorial Park is about 5 miles away from some terrific ice cream at Ice Cream Social and the famous Red Hot on 6th Ave. For those who want a little more and a social stop, we'll continue from War Memorial Park through North Tacoma and stop at Ice Cream Social or the Red Hot. The route for the additional 10 miles to and from 6th Ave can be found by clicking on "Optional Ice Cream Loop route". The mileage and elevation gain listed above are the totals for both routes. We will be regrouping after hills and before turns, but feel free to print out a cue sheet from the Ride with GPS files if you would like one. The routes can also be downloaded.
There is no bathroom at the start, but there is one at Chambers Bay, mile 5, and another one at mile 12.
Please register for the ride by using the "Register Now" button at the top of the page. Registering and signing the electronic waiver on-line will save us time at the start. You do not need to be a member of Cascade to register on-line and if you can't make it, you do not need to unregister.
New riders are always welcome. If you are new to Cascade free group rides, please read our newcomer information (link above). Please note: helmets are required on all Cascade rides. Other strongly recommended items to bring with you: water, snacks, a spare tube, tire levers and anything else needed to change a flat tire or fix minor mechanical issues, a charged cell phone, ID, some cash and a credit card.
Cancellation Policy: If needed, a weather cancellation will be posted in the Comments sections below two hours prior to the ride start time and the ride leader will not be at the start location. If the weather is questionable, please check here before leaving for the ride.
