Event has already happened.
Want to improve your hill-climbing speed and endurance? The best way to do it is ... climb some hills. And then climb more hills. We'll do just that with four scenic but challenging climbs crammed into 20.5 miles. Or into 15.3 miles, depending on how you count it.
After a 1.8-mile warmup, we'll tackle Norway Hill, then descend down into Kirkland and then up the more relaxed side of Juanita to Holmes Point Drive, where we'll get a descent and then a steeper pitch. Then back down Jaunita, and into the final climb up Simonds. After that, shake out your legs and enjoy the final 5 miles of descent and flats back to the start.
We'll go up the hills each at our own pace, and regroup at the top of each hill. We welcome riders on the slower end of the climbing spectrum (your leader counts herself in that category). But note: This isn't a good ride for new riders. You should be comfortable on your bike and in groups, and have some experience in climbing.
If you ARE a great climber, you're welcome to join us. Just be prepared to wait at the top.
There's no coffee stop, so come prepared with nutrition and two full water bottles. Also come prepared with tools and the ability to fix flats, but we can help if needed. If there's a chance of rain, please have both front and back fenders.
Please arrive at least 20 minutes early so that you can get yourself ready, sign the waiver, and listen to the S.M.A.R.T. briefing.
Cancellation Policy: If needed, a weather cancellation will be posted two hours prior in the Comments section, below, and the ride leader will not be at the start. Please check here or on the Meetup site before leaving for the ride.
