Please join me for a scenic ride this Sunday to the Issaquah Coffee Company.  We will start from Ron Regis Park on Maple Valley Highway (hwy 169) and warm up on the Cedar River Trail for eight miles.  Near the hwy 18 over pass we will jump onto the road.  The next 11-12 miles will offer us great rollers followed by a sweet gradual descent all the way into Issaquah.  Arriving in Issaquah we will stop for our break at Issaquah Coffee Company and refuel before our 4 1/2 mile climb up Newport Way.  Upon reaching the top of our climb we will be rewarded with a thrilling descent through Factoria before reaching Lake Washington Blvd.  Finally, we will ride Lake Washington Blvd and the Lake Washington Trail loop into Renton and back to our start.

There are sani-cans at Ron Regis Park.

For mentoring opportunity, please contact the Ride Leader at least two days in advance so that you have time to familiarize yourself with the route and discuss any route issues or other questions you may have.

Arrive 20 minutes early so you have time to ready your bike, sign the ride waiver, and listen to the Cascade SMART Safety talk.

If ride is cancelled due to weather it will be posted here in comments by 7:00am and ride leader will not be at the start.

Come prepared to fix flats and have a plan for dealing with mechanical issues.  Generally, the group will not wait for flats/mechanical issues so make sure you know the route or have printed a CUE sheet.

Please register for the ride by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page, click the waiver release box, complete the Emergency Contact Number, and click on Save.  By doing this you will save time at the ride start. If you are unable to attend you do not need to "un-register."

Comments

I would like to join up on your ride, but my pace might be closer to an Average Speed of 14 - 16 MPH, rather than the 16+ MPH that some "Moderate" RIdes have been. Is this a Pace/Speed that the Ride Group can "Accept/Tolerate" or would I be better off looking for a "Steady" Pace Group? ALSO - I live in Somerset near Forest Drive, and I am considering "Splitting Off" somewhere between Factoria and Newcastle (or North End of Renton) to Return Home (still about 4-5 miles for me) rather than riding on to the Starting Point. Is that "OK" with you, or do you expect riders to return to the Starting Point? Thanks. Jim Nelson. - Not the Ride Leader Jim Nelson.

Hello James . . . I will be keeping my ride at a moderate pace on the flats.  Between 14-16 mph.  We will climb hills at our own pace and I promise we will re-group at the top of all climbs.  Of course we will take advantage of downhills and go faster.  Gravity is always a pleasant assist on these parts of rides!  Issaquah Hobart Road is a descent almost all the way into Issaquah.  But again on the flats I will maintain 15 or 15.5mph.

And yes, it is perfectly fine if you want to leave the group near Factoria.  As long as I know.  This has been done on other rides by other riders.
