EARTHDREAM Get Stronger Ride
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
EAstside Ride The Hill DREAM rides are focused on developing stronger riders by training on hills or using intervals (or both :). You can ride the hills at your own pace; we will regroup at the top. EARTHDREAM rides emphasize teamwork and cooperative riding in a way that is fun and encourages each rider to develop their cycling skills.
This week's ride keeps the distance the same as last week (80 miles) but adds more climbing. The route includes some flat stretches where we can maintain a relatively fast pace, but also has some substantial hills, like Sahalee Way and Lakemont Avenue, to help us build strength.
For those of you planning on riding one of the early season century rides like the Seven Hills of Kirkland Century (May 29th with 7000 ft of climbing) or the Flying Wheels Summer Century (June 10th with 4300 ft of climbing), this ride will be a perfect stepping stone for you. Future EARTHDREAM rides will gradually increase the distance and elevation so that we can be ready for another challenging riding season!
An effort will be made to accommodate people with a range of abilities, but riders who are significantly off the group pace should come prepared to finish the ride on their own.
The stating location, Woodinville Sports Fields, has heated restrooms and water available. We are planning on stops at a Starbucks in Redmond, a Safeway in Issaquah, and possibly a park in Bellevue or Kirkland.
The EARTHDREAM group generally rides at the high-end of the vigorous range. Our routes tend to include a lot of hills. Riders who struggle to maintain a vigorous pace may find it challenging to stay with the group. We will attempt to accommodate people with a range of abilities, but riders who are significantly off the group pace should come prepared to finish the ride on their own if necessary.
