This steady pace ride is a celebration of life and friendship.  One year ago, I was hit by a drowsy driver and sustained serious injuries.  With support from my Cascade Bicycle Club friends I returned to cycling and became a ride leader.

This ride starts at the Redhook Brewery in Woodinville and follows the Sammamish River Trail to Marymoor Park.  We’ll take W. Lake Sammamish Parkway along the lake to Issaquah, where we’ll stop at Tully’s for refueling.  We’ll continue around the lake on E. Lake Sammamish Parkway, through Marymoor Park, and return to Woodinville via the Sammamish River Trail.

There are no bathrooms at the start, but there are opportunities for a short bathroom stop along the Sammamish River Trail.  A route map and cue sheet are linked below.

Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the ride start in order to prepare your bike and participate in the required SMART briefing.  If roads are wet, the rooster tails from bare tires are a safety issue for other riders so please come with fenders and a long mud flap in back.  Riders without fenders may be asked to ride at the back of the group.

Please RSVP for the ride by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page.  Check the box for “Waiver Signature” and fill in the contact information.  It will make things go quicker at the start of the ride.  Note that the online RSVP requires a Cascade Bicycle Club account, which is easy to set up, but if you don’t want one of those just come anyway and sign the hard-copy attendance sheet.

If there is heavy rain, high winds, flooding, ice/snow or other unsafe riding conditions, I will cancel the ride. A ride cancellation will be posted in the comments section on both the Cascade and Meetup sites, ideally two hours prior to the start time. If such posting takes place, I will NOT be at the start. The ride may also be called at the ride start or during the ride for safety reasons. CHECK THE CASCADE OR MEETUP WEBPAGE BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME.

Comments

Due to road construction at the intersection of East Lake Sammamish Parkway and Inglewood Hill Road, we may detour onto the Lake Sammamish Trail about 1/4 mile before the intersection. We would likely then remain on the trail until we get to Marymoor Park. The trail at the point of entry and for less than a mile after that is hard packed dirt/gravel. Very doable on a road bike.
