Free Group Ride
FRUMPS: North Lake Washington Loop
Event has already happened.
This is a hilly, urban ride along generally good roads most of which have good cycling shoulders. We will be riding clockwise around the north end of Lake Washington starting at Log Boom Park, over Juanita Hill, through Kirkland and Bellvue before catching the I 90 trail over the bridge to Leschi eventually catching the Burke Gilman Trail at the UW. The most challenging hill on this 38 mile Steady ride is Juanita Hill, which comes early in the ride, but we are rewarded with a great downhill run to Juanita Beach Park.
This is a social, stay together ride. Riders should be able to go the distance and tackle the hills along the way. Riders should be prepared to make minor repairs - flats and chains. I suggest that everyone not familiar with the various alternative routes bring a copy of the cue sheet. We will be taking a sit down lunch break, probably on Mercer Island.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes to allow time for the safety briefing and introductions. If you hae not ridden a FRUMPS ride before, give us a try.
A reasonable threat of showers and/or starting temperatures under 40 degrees will cancel the ride. In case of any doubt, please check the Comments section of this posting any time after 8:00 on the morning of the ride.
