Come join me for a fun ride in the crisp fall air! Fall Cycling is a progressive hill training series, mileage and elevation increase in distance, feet, and grade each week. This weeks ride will be the last moderate paced ride offered in the Fall Cycling Series for 2016.
Ride Start Details: The ride will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. at the Old Renton Courthouse in downtown Renton, next to the Renton Library. The pace is Moderate, 14-16 mph on flat roads with no headwinds. Hills are self paced. We regroup at the top of hills and at major turns for a reasonable amount of time.
Restrooms at start. Please arrive early enough to set up, check in and/or sign the ride waiver, hear the route details, and review Cascade riding S.M.A.R.T.
If you are a new rider to Cascade Free Group Rides, we welcome you! Please click on Cascade Bicycle Newcomers in the Links section below and read to learn more about our rides and some important information.
Registration: Please register for this ride in advance on the Cascade site. You can register now by selecting the Register Now button at the top of this page, then follow the prompts. Online registrations are accepted until 6 AM of ride day, after that all riders must sign up at the ride start. In addition, all are encouraged to RSVP on Meetup, to go to Meetup see the links section at bottom left.
Ride Requirements:
Please print off and bring your own cue sheet, and please be knowledgeable and equipped with tubes, pump, etc to handle flats or minor mechanicals.
It is important to bring adequate food and water as there may be limited opportunities to purchase along the way.
If roads are wet, fenders are necessary. Long fenders and buddy flaps are absolutely required unless it is bone dry out, and zero percent chance of rain forecast. A good headlight and taillight are recommended.
Helmets are required to ride.
A good attitude is absolutely necessary. These are challenging rides; yet, we are here to have fun and support one another on the ride.
Planned Stop: Mile 4.7, McDonalds, and mile 23.9, Chucks Donuts
Cancellation: Ice, snow or otherwise unsafe riding conditions will cancel this ride. In the event of a cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments section in both the Cascade and Meetup postings.

Something to Look Forward to on the Break!
Option A: if colder temperatures, ice on Saturday
If the temperatures dip down low Friday night into Saturday morning, and there is the risk of ice at higher elevations in Newcastle, here is an alternate route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/1..., 34 miles / 2013 feet, and still a stop at Chucks Donuts.
I will post an update Friday night or early Saturday morning. Looking forward to a fun ride!
Update to Route
Hey Riders,
Despite the very cold conditions, I am still planning on riding Saturday! However, due to the possibility of ice at higher elevations and de-icer on the roadways, I updated the route, it is a reduction in mileage and elevation, but we are still stopping at Chuck's and we will have a great ride. Please be sure to download this newest route and updated cue sheet, and please check back prior to the ride in the event of any other updates I may post.
Thank you!
