May Valley - Dorre Don - Soos Creek Loop
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
A beautiful, country-like ride, we will head out from Newport Hills, down May Valley and out to a coffee stop at Ristrettos in Maple Valley.
We start at the Newport Hills Park and Ride - restrooms are not available at the start, but we will stop at the Shell station just up the hill. The route heads out down May Valley Road, along Issaquah-Hobart Rd, and then Cedar Grove before we head into some nice country areas along Dorre Don Way. There are a few rolling hills (and three rather pitchy ones) before we continue out to the stop at Ristretto's Coffee and Wine in Maple Valley- there's a great deck with some nice views!
The return takes us south to Kent-Black Diamond Road and some nice blacktop, and then up through Soos Creek Park where we ride along the bike trail (15 mph) so you can enjoy some more views. We will head into Renton, and then back up beside the lake with a restroom stop at Gene Coulon Pk, before heading back towards Newport Hills.
Lots of straight stretches to just enjoy the outdoors on your bike.
Pace: Brisk (16 to 180mph) posted pace on the flats with an equivalent effort up hills. We will regroup at the top of significant climbs, and major intersections. If you plan to ride faster or slower, please come prepared to ride on your own so that the group does not have long wait times. Please print out the Cue Sheet and bring this with you.
Regroups/Mechanicals: This is a social ride, so we will stop for mechanical issues as necessary. Please come prepared with the necessary equipment you need to take care of flats or other problems.
Cancellation Policy: In the event of a weather cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride and the ride leader will not be at the ride start location. If questionable, you can also contact the ride leader using the provided contact information.
Please make sure to arrive at least 20 minutes before the ride start so you can get prepared to roll out at the posted time, sign a waiver, and hear the ride briefing. As is required with all Cascade rides, please ensure you wear a helmet and come prepared with gear that is comfortable and appropriate for the weather, and distance/elevation.
