Are you thinking about joining CTS but not quite sure you can keep the minimum pace? Come out and join us for the Red/Leisurely Riders Pace Trial. We will take the STP route to Seward Park. After a short break we'll retrace our route, this time taking a slightly different path back to Cascade headquarters.

NOTE: These pace trial rides are meant to assure riders they can do the MINIMUM CTS pace. The rides are 10-12 mph on the flats, assuming no head or tailwinds. If you feel you can comfortably do these rides you are welcome to join us but WE WILL KEEP THE PACE.

Route: This ride is approximately 28 miles with 1091' elevation gain.

Make sure to print a cue sheet and bring it with you for the ride. You can view the cue sheet, route details and upload the route to your GPS device from the link below. There is also a cue sheet attached to this listing that you can download. NOTE that this route is currently a DRAFT and may be updated prior to the ride. I will post an update in the comment section below in that case.

Please come with the skills and equipment to change a flat; the group does not stop for long for mechanical issues. Arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of the ride to sign the waiver and be part of the safety briefing. S.M.A.R.T. riding is the standard and all riders are held accountable for doing their best to adhere to these. Print contact information clearly on the waiver so that we can reach you in case you become separated.

You may also register for the ride online, by clicking on the "Register" button under the ride title, checking the Waiver Signature box, and saving registration. Registering requires a Cascade account.

There is a short rest stop at Seward Park during the ride, and there may not be restrooms/water at the start. Please plan ahead.

Steady rain cancels. Ride Director will not be at the start in the event of cancellation, but will update Cascade and Meetup 2 hours prior to start time.

FOR WET CONDITIONS, FENDERS REQUIRED. Please come with long fenders including a buddy flap if the roads are wet. Without them, you will be asked to ride in the back of the group.

Ride Director: Louise Johnson, contact via email at aquaria@comcast.net or, if necessary, at 425-231-4933.

Remember, SMART riding is no accident!

Comments

Good morning everyone! It looks like the weather is going to hold for us. We'll see you by 10:30am this morning. The Montlake Bridge is closed so if you were planning to cross that please allow extra time for the detour.

To the person who left last, driving a black SUV: I have your helmet and gloves. They fell off your car at the stop sign. Let me know how I can get them back to you (and what color they are). I think maybe they are Ilya's?
