Join us for the 4th annual early morning Thanksgiving Day ride up the inclines of Sahalee, Ames Lk, Union and Education Hills - a great way to start the morning! Throw the turkey in the oven, set the timer, and come out for a series of hill adventures starting at Marymoor Park - we'll be meeting on the Sammamish River Trail adjacent to Whole Foods (which is still part of Marymoor Park - see map for details) - and we'll try to complete our ride in time for the afternoon kickoffs, tipoffs, family & friend get-togethers, etc.

After completing this ride, be warned that you may feel a certain heightened sense of self-righteous smugness as you choose a second helping of yams with brown sugar & marshmallows or an extra drum stick. Riders should be able to sustain an overall high Moderate pace, read a cue sheet, and change a flat. We'll ride at 16 mph on flat terrain, self-pace up hills and regroup at hill tops.

In case of steady rain or other hazardous weather conditions, the ride leader will post a cancellation note in the comments section of this posting.

Riders can access the route information at http://ridewithgps.com/routes/11042430. The cue sheet for this ride is attached below: PDF icon T-Day_2015_4_Hills_route_Sahalee_Ames_Lk_Union_Education_Hills_Nov_26_2016.pdf

Weather  Alert!  We have been monitoring the weather forecast for Thursday morning and current projections are for low temps in Redmond & Sammamish in the high 20's F.  The baseline route has some steep hills and road areas which can be shaded and retain frost for quite some time.  We will be watching the road conditions carefully but we are considering the possibility that due to road riding conditions we would need to do an alternate route such as a Lake Sammamish Loop.  We'll make the final routing assessment as we get closer and the weather conditions become better understood.  We want to do our best to assure everyone has a great ride and gets home safely for family/friends time!

Based on observations from driving the baseline route on Wednesday morning during the hours at which we would be riding the course, the ride leaders have reached a consensus that due to frost & ice conditions at various locations along the route, that we will instead go to our alternate route of a Lake Sammamish Loop - http://ridewithgps.com/routes/11286468

We will be leaving at the planned start time at 0830 so please be early to sign the waiver sheets and hear the new SMART briefing.   Your choice of clothing but long gloves etc. would seem appropriate!  :>)
