BABES early season starter rides are intended for newer or timid  road cyclists who want to gain confidence on non-intimidating routes and gain safe group riding  skills.  Pace will be steady for these rides and regroups frequent and as needed.  The length and amount of elevation gain will increase with future rides.  Bring snacks and water.  There is a portapotty at the start. Your bike should be in good riding condition and  be sure to have 2 spare tubes and a pump in event of a flat but if you are a little shaky on changing flats I will help you. As with all Cascade rides; an approved bike helmet is required to ride.  Have an emergency contact number and plan in case you have a mechanical problem or are unable to finish the ride.  Please print a cue sheet from the link provided but if you need help with that please contact me at least the day before the ride.  Frost, ice, snow or freezing conditions will also cancel the ride.  In event of weather conditions being poor as described above I will post a cancellation notice in the comments section at the bottom of this posting by 7:30 am on the day of the ride.  If you do not see a cancellation notice and weather is questionable you can assume I will be at the start and make the go or no go decision there.  Please be sure to arrive at least 20 mins early to prepare your bike, use bathroom, sign waiver and hear SMART briefing.  This is the 3rd ride in this series so it has more elevation gain but we will regroup frequently and at the top of hills.  Our route will go over English Hill, to Cottage Lake area and then to Redmond ridge for lunch at the Starbucks/QFC, then return via the Bear Creek area.  Note new start location: 60 acres park is just east of the Sammamish River trail  and Willows Road, south of 124th and north of downtown Redmond.  Park in the lot  on the south side of 116th but there is overflow parking on the north side of 116th.  If you need help with directions please call or email ride leader the day before.

Misting rain in Woodinville currently.  Chance of rain increasing by start time and higher chance by mid day.  I will be at the start but there is a good chance this ride will cancel or be cut short so please consider if you are driving any distance.
