New Burke-Gilman Detours Begin Monday

The Burke-Gilman Trail by UW is about to get a little hairy—but maybe not where you think. Last week, barricades went up by Rainier Vista for the Montlake Triangle Project, but trail work is also slated to begin Monday on a more westerly section between Adams and Brooklyn.

As part of the Mercer Mockup Project, flaggers will be on-site to re-direct trail-users to a short detour route near the Stevens Court Apartments. UW will be trying out some new methods and materials on that stretch of the BGT, and the project is expected to wrap up in April.

A quick word of caution to bicyclists on the Burke: take your time along these detours. It’s all too easy to have an accident when your daily route becomes unfamiliar. That said, we always love trail improvements!
