Course Description
Learn how to be self-sufficient and avoid delays by fixing your own flat. This class is designed for tubed tires (not for tubeless tires). We’ll teach you which tools and supplies you’ll need to carry for a quick repair when you’re out on the road and send you home with the confidence to fix your own flat. Even if your wheels are set up as tubeless, being able to put a tube in during a roadside emergency is an essential skill!
Learn How To
- Prevent flats
- Inspect and inflate your tire
- Remove and install your front and rear wheels
- Diagnose the cause of your flat
- Patch a tube
- Install a new tube
This class is for any student who has never changed a flat before or for a student who has changed a flat but would like some more practice. Small class size and skilled instructors allow you to learn in a patient and supportive environment. We encourage you to bring your own tools and bike so you get real-world practice. Tools can be provided for you during the class if you don't have your own.
Prerequisites
None. This is the perfect first class if you don't know anything yet about maintenance!
Types of Bikes This Class is For
- This class is designed for tubed tires (vs. tubeless tires).
- If you are unable to bring a bike to class one will be provided for you, but we cannot guarantee that it will have similar components to your personal bike.
Have an e-Bike?
This class is primarily designed for acoustic (non-electric) bikes. However, the curriculum does apply to most e-bike models. In general, students with e-bikes will need to work with their bike on the ground (not in a stand) and may be limited to practicing on the front tire only, depending on where your motor is mounted.
