This class, offered through WeBike for Women & Non-Binary riders, is open solely to all self-identifying women and non-binary folks.

Course Description

In this hands-on class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of drivetrain and shifting mechanics. Our step-by-step instructions will help you get your bike to shift and pedal more smoothly.  You’ll learn how to properly maintain and adjust your drivetrain and shifting system. 

Learn How To

• Identify the parts of your drivetrain
• Clean and lube your drivetrain
• Inspect your drivetrain for common wear patterns and know when to replace parts
• Adjust your front and rear derailleurs
• Troubleshoot shifting problems
• Small class size and low instructor to student ratios allow you to learn in a patient and supportive environment

Prerequisites

If you do not know if your bike has standard or electric shifting (electric shifting requires a charging) it may be best to start with our Maintenance for Every Rider class. 

Type of Bike this Class is for

• Bring your own standard (non-electric) bike to adjust your shifting.
• We will not be teaching how to adjust electric shifting in this class.
• This class uses bike stands so please take any extra bags off of your seat post as that is often the best place to clamp.
• If you are unable to bring a bike to class one will be provided for you, but we cannot guarantee that it will have similar components to your personal bike.
