A week to celebrate with Cascade

It is a time of celebration here at Cascade Bicycle Club with the opening of the Westlake protected bike lane, Park(ing) Day and the Unveiling Party of the Cascade Bicycling Center!

Celebrate the opening of Westlake

After years of organizing, patience and compromise the time has come to celebrate the opening of Seattle's newest protected bike lane — a 1.2 mile stretch along Westlake connecting northern neighborhoods with South Lake Union.

Families, commuters and all who bike can join in festivities including games, refreshments and a raffle with local business giveaways at Lake Union Park. Director of Transportation Scott Kubly will lead a ride along Westlake.

The party takes place Thursday, Sept. 15, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Arrive by 5:30 p.m. to catch the speakers and bike ride. Say you’ll join us!

Park(ing) Day

Join Cascade at our Park(ing) Day + project this Friday, Sept. 16 and Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Our Park(ing) day project is continuing the bike lane on the south side of Pine Street between Broadway and 10th Avenue. Grab some giveaways and nominate your favorite Bike Friendly Business! Our friends at Sportworks are providing extra bike parking too. There are more than 50 Park(ing) Day sites planned in Seattle, see how many you can visit!

Unveiling Party of the Cascade Bicycling Center

And last but certainly not least, we hope you’ll join us on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 1-3 p.m. for the unveiling party of YOUR newly completed Cascade Bicycling Center!

Check out the new digs, stay cool with delicious local ice cream and cake and relax to fun live music. The party will also feature a Kidical MASSive ride, helmet fitting and bicycle rodeo. All are welcome to this free and family-friendly celebration.

We look forward to seeing you at one — or all! — of these celebratory occasions this week!
