Seattle resident killed while bicycling

We are extremely saddened by the news of the death of 45-year-old Andres Hulslander, who was struck and killed while bicycling on 65th Avenue NE on Saturday night.

Our hearts go out to Andres’ friends and family.

According to Seattle Police and the Seattle Times, Andres was bicycling eastbound on 65th Avenue NE near 15th Avenue NE when he was struck from behind by 29-year-old Lucas McQuinn, who was driving a car.

Police said that McQuinn showed signs of impairment, and McQuinn told police that he had been drinking at a nearby pub.

McQuinn was arrested at the scene and his next court appearance is Wednesday, July 1.

Neighbors are organizing a memorial walk for Andres in mid-July. We will release more details as soon as we have them.
