Last week, Cascade stood with Mayor Ed Murray and other transportation leaders as he announced his bold 9-year transportation funding plan.

With the current transportation levy ending this year, voters will need to approve a new levy to continue doing basic maintenance and making streets safer. Knowing Seattle voters want a bold investment in our streets and transit system, Mayor Murray's plan would more than double our city's funding for transportation. We applaud him for his leadership.

The city of Seattle is holding three "community conversations" on the proposed transportation levy. Attend one and express support for a strong investment in new bikeways and safe streets.

Please attend one of the community conversations:

The current transportation levy, approved by voters in 2006, provides much of the city's transportation funding. It expires this year. In order to continue basic street maintenance and safety projects, voters will need to approve a new levy this November.

The people of Seattle want a bold investment in transportation. The renewal and expansion of the transportation levy this fall is our best chance at building out our planned bike network and reducing traffic fatalities and serious injuries. Mayor Murray's funding proposal provides the leadership to meet Seattleites' vision.

We've seen time and time again how caring neighbors can come together to change the world. Thank you for all that you do to create safer streets in Seattle.

If you cannot attend, please submit your comments through an online form on city's website.
