Get your cowbells ready, round up your friends and family and head down to the Marymoor Veldrome to watch local and pro racers kick off their ‘cross season at StarCrossed!

Arguably the most spectator-friendly and fun bike racing discipline, cyclocross is a form of racing that takes place on grassy and often muddy single tracks with short and steep hills, sharp corners and obstacles. Racers have to dismount from their bikes to run across obstacles while carrying the bike. The races are fast, fun and short – and may or may not include hand-offs, costumes, heckling and other shenanigans.

StarCrossed stands out from other cyclocross races in the Puget Sound region in that it’s once again back on the international UCI cyclocross calendar, attracting top U.S. and international cyclists riders like Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus), Gabby Day (Rapha-Focus), and Ryan Trebon (Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld).

“StarCrossed took a brief hiatus from the UCI calendar last year and we are pleased to open up the US cyclocross race season in Seattle, with the support of Rapha,” said Low Pressure Promotions co-founder Terry Buchanan.

Rapha’s title sponsorship of StarCrossed this year coincides with their Super Cross events, a group of races that Rapha has touted as top cyclocross races around the globe.

“I love racing in Seattle for StarCrossed because it is one of very few times we get to race in the Northwest,” said Ryan Trebon.  “I grew up in the Northwest and I'm always stoked to race in front of people who have known me since I was a 14 year old junior racer.”

StarCrossed is an all-day event with races kicking off at 2 p.m. The Deschutes Beer Garden opens promptly at 3 p.m. and the Elite races will be held at sunset.
