Tacoma: University Place to Steilacoom (Steady)

For this ride, we'll meet in front of the University Place Library. Be there, ready to go, at the start time listed above. We'll begin with a required safety briefing and roll out after that.  All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate. The parking near the stores and the plaza is time limited, but the parking garage for the library is not. If you are coming by car,  give yourself some extra time to park. Washrooms are available in the library. 

Our route takes us to through Fort Steilacoom Park on our way to Steilacoom and passes by Oakbrook and Chambers Bay Golf Courses. We'll stop briefly near the dog park in Fort Steilacoom, at around the midpoint of our ride, to use the washrooms. Our start and end location has lots of good options for post ride food and snacks. We'll pick one for optional post ride social. 

This is a "steady" paced ride - defined by the club as 12-14 miles per hour on flats without wind. We will climb at lower speeds and descent at faster speeds. Hills are at our own pace, with regrouping after. We will also regroup before turns if we are spread out. 

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
