Education Hill loop (Leisurely)
Ride Contact
... of 10 spots remaining
This is the slightly shorter and less-hilly version of the Redmond Leisurely Hills ride, now that days are getting shorter. We should finish right around sunset, so lights are required!
🧭 Start location: We'll start from the Redmond Senior & Community Center, meeting between the community center and the police station. There are restrooms available inside the community center. See the map for details.
🚗 Parking: Free parking is available on the ground floor of the Redmond Municipal Campus Parking Garage. Please do NOT park in the surface lots closest to the community center. See the map for details.
⌚ Ride start: Be ready to ride at 5:30pm. We'll start with a safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate—no joining late!
🚴♀️ Pace and regroups: As a leisurely ride, the pace will be max 12mph on flats, slower on climbs. Everyone can climb and descend hills at their own pace, and we'll regroup frequently. (If you'd like to go faster, check out the MEETS series!)
🗺️ Route: This week's route goes up and down Education Hill, over to Farrel-McWhirter Park, through Evans Creek Park, and back to downtown Redmond. The hills in the middle are long but not too steep. It's recommended to save the route to a GPS device or phone for navigation in case of separation due to flats or other problems.
🛠️ Mechanical issues: Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case, and have a backup plan (such as a charged cell phone or ORCA card) in case roadside repairs aren't sufficient.
🔦 Lights: A working headlight and red taillight are required, since we'll be finishing as it gets dark.
🎇 New riders: New riders are welcome! Your bike must be in working order, and this shouldn't be your first ride of the season. Please take a look at the new rider information, and feel free to contact the ride leader with further questions.
🚻 Rest stops: Restrooms are available at the start in the community center and are open until 9pm. There's an optional restroom stop at mile 9 if needed.
🌫️ Smoke/air quality: The ride may be shortened if AQI is over 70 or cancelled if around 100 or higher.
🌧️ Weather cancellation: If weather conditions meet the cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride, and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride. Occasionally, the ride may be cancelled at the ride start due to changing weather or road conditions.
