Ballard-Magnolia History Ride (Leisurely)
Ride Contact
... of 30 spots remaining
Join us for a history ride around the Ballard and Magnolia neighborhoods on an 18 mile route at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace!
We will meet outside the Ballard Locks Visitor Center (3015 NW 54th St, Seattle, WA 98107). Bike access is half a block off the Burke-Gilman Trail. Parking can be found in nearby parking lots. Transit access includes King County Metro Bus route 44.
Please be ready to ride at 9:30 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
There are a total of 12 stops on this ride during which the ride leader will tell a story about local history for a couple of minutes. The group will take a brief water/snack break in Discovery Park at mile 10.8. There are restrooms near the start/finish at the Ballard Locks, Golden Gardens (mile 5.4), Ballard Locks (mile 7.7), Discovery Park (mile 10.8), and Fishermen's Terminal (mile 16.6).
The route is mostly on paved roads and sidewalks.
Please note: due to all of the starts/stops, this ride is expected to last around 5 hours (estimated finish by 2:30 pm) and will end back at the Ballard Locks Visitor Center.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
