Join us for a one-way transit tour along the historic route of the Seattle-Everett Interurban Railway from Lynnwood to Downtown Seattle on a 21 mile route at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace!
We will meet at the hummingbird sculpture outside the north entrance to the Lynnwood City Center light rail station (20110 46th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98036). Bicycle access is from the nearby Interurban Trail. Parking can be found in the light rail station's parking garage. Transit access is from Sound Transit's 1 & 2 Lines of the Link light rail and a variety of Community Transit buses.
Please be ready to ride at 10:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We will visit the site of a historic streetcar and follow along the historic route of the Seattle-Everett Interurban Railway, stopping briefly at the former sites of each station before ending at the site of the historic train depot in downtown Seattle. Riders have the option to take the 1 & 2 Lines of the Link light rail to return to the start or ride back on their own. There are restrooms near the start at the Lynnwood City Center light rail station, Echo Lake Park (mile 7.4), Bitter Lake (mile 12.3), Greenwood Park (mile 14.6), and Westlake Center near the finish.
The route is mostly on paved roads and trails but includes some segments of dirt/gravel riding with options for detours.
Please note: this ride is expected to last around 3-4 hours (estimated finish before 2:00 pm) and will end a block from Westlake Park in downtown Seattle.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
