Seattle Queer History Ride (2026 #2) - Capitol Hill to U District (Leisurely)

Join us for a history ride from Capitol Hill to U District on a 7 mile route around parts of Seattle at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace!

We will meet at the AIDS Memorial Pathway (920 East Barbara Bailey Way, Seattle, WA 98122). Parking can be found on nearby streets. Transit access includes the 1 & 2 Lines of the Link light rail (use the South exit from the Capitol Hill station), King County Metro Bus routes 8, 9, 11, 43, 49, & 60, & the Capitol Hill Streetcar.

Please be ready to ride at 12:00 PM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

There are a total of 11 stops on this ride during which the ride leader will tell a story about Seattle's LGBTQ+ history for a couple of minutes. There are restrooms near the start in Cal Anderson Park.

The route is mostly on paved roads and sidewalks with a short segment on packed gravel.

Please note: due to all of the starts/stops, this ride is expected to last around 3 hours (estimated finish by 3:00 pm) and will end at the Roosevelt light rail station. Riders can take the light rail back to Capitol Hill.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
