Sunday Ride: Auburn - Lake Holm - Green Valley (Steady)

Join us for a scenic ride through downtown Auburn to rural roads around Lake Holm and the Green River. This will be a mentored ride for Jonathan Lam who is training to be a Cascade ride leader. We'll be meeting in the vast parking lot around the Auburn Walmart away from the store entrance - please look at the location of the pin drop on the map to determine our exact location.  Walmart will be open at our start time and there are washrooms available. Be at our meeting location, ready to ride, at the start time. We will begin with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

There is a gentle climb out of Auburn, one short steep climb on a quiet street and a long downhill to Green Valley.  We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will re-group after hills and before turns if the group is spread out.  This is a "steady" paced ride, defined by our club as 12-14 miles per hour on flats if no tail or headwind. The route is linked and riders are encouraged to download it if they are able. 

We'll plan for a washroom stop at Whitney Bridge Park, around the midpoint of the ride, just after the downhill to Green Valley. 

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
