Lake Union History Ride 2026 Edition (Leisurely)

Join us for a history ride on a 12 mile route around Seattle's Lake Union at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace!

We will meet at the east end of the parking lot in Gas Works Park (2101 North Northlake Way, Seattle, WA, 98103). Transit access includes the Link light rail station at UW (2 miles away via Burke-Gilman Trail) and King County Metro bus routes 31, 32, and 62 with stops a few blocks away. Parking can be found in the parking lot and adjacent streets.

Please be ready to ride at 10:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

There are a total of 13 stops on this ride during which the ride leader will tell a story about the history around Lake Union for a couple of minutes. There are restrooms near the start in Gas Works Park, and the group will take a water/snack/restroom break at Cascade Playground (mile 8.0). The ride ends back at Gas Works Park.

The route is mostly on paved roads, trails, and sidewalks with a few short sections of gravel.

Please note: due to all of the starts/stops, this ride is expected to last around 4 hours (estimated finish by 2:00 pm) and will end at the Gas Works Park.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
