Bike the Light Rail: Alki Beach to Bellevue South station on Opening Day (Leisurely)

Join us for a one-way transit tour across Lake Washington from Alki Beach to International District/Chinatown to South Bellevue Lightrail Station on a 16 mile route. We'll ride at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace to celebrate the opening of the Crosslake Connection of the 2 Line of the Link light rail on opening day!

We will meet at the Statue of Liberty on Alki Beach. Please note parking on Alki Beach can be a challenge sometimes. 

Please be ready to ride at 10:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

We will visit new light rail stations on this ride at which we will pause briefly to observe them before ending at the South Bellevue light rail station. We will take a water/restroom break at Aubrey Davis Park (mile 8). Riders have the option to take the 2 Line of the light rail to return to the start or ride back on their own. Please remember to bring your ORCA card. 

The route is mostly on paved roads and trails.

Please note: this ride is expected to last around 2-3 hours and will end at South Bellevue Station.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the weather status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
