Join us for a history ride on an 8 mile route around Seattle's International District at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace!
We will meet at the Waterworks Fountain in Cal Anderson Park (1033 East Denny Way, Seattle, WA, 98122). Transit access includes the Link light rail station at Capitol Hill. Parking can be found on adjacent streets, but it is recommended to park at another light rail station and take your bike on the light rail to the ride start (the ride starts and ends at light rail stations).
Please be ready to ride at 10:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
There are a total of 12 stops on this ride during which the ride leader will tell a story about the International District's history for a couple of minutes. There are restrooms near the start in Cal Anderson Park, and the group will take a water/snack/restroom break at Judkins Park (mile 5.0). The ride ends at the International District-Chinatown light rail station.
The route is mostly on paved roads, trails, and sidewalks.
Please note: due to all of the starts/stops, this ride is expected to last around 3.5 hours (estimated finish by 1:30 pm) and will end at the International District-Chinatown light rail station. Riders can take the light rail back to Capitol Hill from there, and they are encouraged to get lunch from local businesses in Chinatown before they leave.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
