Bike the Light Rail: Downtown Redmond Extension Opening Day (Leisurely)

Join us for a one-way transit tour from Redmond Technology Station to Downtown Redmond Station on a 7 mile route at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace to celebrate the opening of the Downtown Redmond Light Rail Extension!

We will meet at ground level at the east entrance to the Redmond Technology light rail station next to Dote Coffee Bar (3849 156th Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052). Bicycle access is from the 520 Trail less than a quarter mile away. Parking can be found in the light rail station's parking garage. Transit access is from Sound Transit's 2 Line light rail (Redmond Technology Station) and a variety of King County Metro Bus routes including the RapidRide B.

Please be ready to ride at 12:00 PM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

We will visit a total of 2 brand new light rail stations on this ride at which we will pause briefly to observe them before ending at Downtown Redmond Station where a celebration festival will be taking place. Riders have the option to take the 2 Line of the light rail to return to the start or ride back on their own. We will take a restroom & snack break at Marymoor Park (mile 4.0). There are no restrooms near the start.

The route is mostly on paved roads and trails.

Please note: this ride is expected to last around 1 hour (estimated finish by 1:00 pm) and will end at Downtown Redmond Station.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
